Quebec Central Railway (1901-4/1994) |
BackgroundThe Quebec Central was formed in 1874 by renaming the Sherbrooke, Eastern Townships and Kennebec Railway, and was subsequently leased to the Canadian Pacific for 999 years in 1912. In earlier years, many QC cars were constructed in their own Newington shops, with some cars in later years being received from the CPR fleet. During the late 1950s their remaining cars were renumbered into CP's fleet. The reporting mark was resurrected in 1979 for some new boxcars, with more cars acquired during the 1980s.
